    Our Values

CAN has a set of values and principles that underpin our organisation and are aligned with our overall objective which is one of being our client’s first and repeated choice provider of high quality and safe services.

    Access Solutions

  • For some projects it may be preferable to purpose-build access equipment, or adapt existing systems. CAN has a great deal of experience in this and has full in-house design, engineering, fabrication and load testing facilities. Solutions that were initially developed for a specific site and then subsequently adapted for wider use include:

    CANspan

CANspan is a patented modular work platform that gives the productivity of scaffold but without the associated costs. The modular system is extremely lightweight and can be deployed on and around most structures. The system can be extended up to 22m in length, cantilevered up to 8m, and used with sheeting systems to provide full containment for fabric maintenance work scopes.

    CAN Girder Glider

Is used for fast, safe, easy traversing access on permanent or temporary beams. It is light, load tested and incorporates lock-off and back-up systems.

    CANnet

Is a combined safety and Work Positioning Net (WPN) that meets EN1263. It is light, modular and easily rigged in any configuration

    Rope Access Services

  • CAN Offshore Ltd Rope Access Rope Access Services

The advantages of rope access are significant for performing mechanical tasks at height.

    Contact
  • CAN was responsible for the introduction of rope access to the offshore industry in 1986 and were founding members of the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA).

Rope access is not CAN’s core business today but instead a method of access to perform trade based tasks. CAN currently provide trade based services, with or without, rope access services to a wide variety of clients at various offshore and onshore locations.

The advantages of rope access are significant for performing mechanical tasks at height. Traditional access solutions, such as scaffold, often have to be removed and reinstated during the course of a workscope to allow the works to progress. Rope access allows the worksite to remain largely free from obstruction, and when combined with our engineering and specialist access solutions large scale construction/deconstruction tasks can often be completed more safely and economically than conventional methods. CAN’s trade teams recently installed over 200 tonnes of steelwork, often cross hauling steel work into position, all performed without the requirement for scaffold.

    Advantages of Rope Access

    • Access provision can be a significant proportion of any project’s costs. Rope Access techniques can replace traditional solutions and offer clients significant savings
    • Single point of contact for the client – as CAN provide both access and contracting
    • Rope systems are quick to install and dismantle. By removing operational and time constraints, rope access services are often able to extend the ‘time window’ available to undertake work
    • Rope access offers better flexibility for rescheduling thereby exploiting favourable weather conditions
    • Rope access is statistically safer than scaffolding and uses fewer men. Ropes can be removed from site at the end of each shift – this is a particular benefit for works on, for example, high rise building and sports stadia where there is the potential for vandalism
    • The versatility of rope access services permits a more flexible and comprehensive ‘point and shoot’ service on, for example, inspection programmes. The Inspection Manager is no longer constrained to areas that can be easily reached by conventional means
    • Rope systems are unobtrusive. This is a benefit for clients who own historic properties and wish to retain the visual integrity of the structure during inspection or maintenance works
    • By minimising disruption at ground level, rope access often allows other trades to continue working when compared with the disruption caused by scaffolding

In addition to specialist rope access techniques, CAN offer a range of unique secondary access solutions which further complement and enhance standard rope access techniques.
